On this day in 1968, the number one song on Melbourne radio station 3UZ's chart was Love is Blue by Paul Mauriat (1925-2006). Born in Marseille, Mauriat was an orchestra leader, conductor and arranger who enjoyed a long and prolific career. This is perhaps his best known hit, and to this day, it remains a staple of AM easy listening radio. On the other hand, 3UZ is now broadcasting as Sport 927, and covers horse and greyhound racing.
